Last Sunday ABC premiered there newest drama entitled PAN AM.

Set in 1961, this show is about flight attendants who work for the airliner PAN AM. When I first heard about this show back in May after the ABC Upfronts I was like…..Are They For Real??? Who would want to see a show about flight attendants working for an airline that went out of business in 1991? Granted the 1960’s was the beginning of the jet age of air travel and the heyday of PAN AM, I was still hesitant on this series. That was until early September when I started to hear positive things about this series. So with that in mind I decided to give this show a chance; and boy am I glad I did!!

In my opinion this is one of the best new dramas of the season. It is also the best new period drama of the season. The other new period drama being The Playboy club was so bad it doesn’t even warrant a review on this site. PAN AM mixes equal parts drama and intrigue into a well scripted, well-acted and well directed show that has me hooked after one episode.

One of the things I like about this show besides from the writing and acting is that this show pays very close attention to realistic details from that era, and it works. From the uniforms of the flight attendants to the interiors of the planes, to the everyday little things that would be found in use in 1961.

The show is 100 percent filmed in New York but thanks to the magic of TV, location shots make you feel that the cast is in a foreign city.

The show stars Christina Ricci (The Addams Family) and Kelli Garner. It airs Sunday nights at 10:00PM on ABC.
