X-MEN FIRST CLASS Sequel Plans And Other Marvel Film Reboots!!!

X-MEN FIRST CLASS was a box office success, so it’s no surprise that a sequel is already in the works.  20th Century Fox has told MTV News that a sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s film is a go.

More after the fold…

When we will see the sequel in theatres and whether or not Vaughn will be back on board as director still remain to be seen.  Fox executives have said that it all depends on how good a script they can get and how soon they can get it.

Fox is also planning on rebooting two other Marvel film franchises.

The first of these is DAREDEVIL.  While I myself enjoyed the 2003 Ben Affleck version it was not a Marvel film in the sense that Captain America or X-Men First Class was.  This film is already in preproduction and has been for a while now.

The second film franchise Fox is planning on rebooting is the Fantastic Four. The previous two films in this franchise failed to live up to expectations and seemed too comedic in tone for my tastes.

Fox feels that with the success of First Class, the bar for superhero films has been raised so to speak and thus wanted to remake these two franchises.

How this plays out and if anything gets past preproduction is anyone’s guess but as usual, more as things develop.
