Today Marvel released the highly anticipated and much hyped Fantastic Four issue #587. Entitled Three, Part Five: The Last Stand this is the issue comic fans have or have not been waiting for; A member of Marvels First Family will be killed off. Well that’s sort of an understatement in my opinion.
Ok for those of you who haven’t read the issue yet be warned this article will contain spoilers……

Still here….ok then you have been warned. The member of the FF that “is killed off” is none other than Johnny Storm The Human Torch!! Now I put the quotes there because you don’t actually see him dying. The story begins with Ben, Johnny, Franklin & Valeria battling Annihilus’ Negative Zone Hordes. In order to stop the hordes the portal between the Baxter Building & the Negative Zone must be closed from the Negative Zone side. Johnny is the one who stays behind to close the door, but in doing so he is attacked by a wave of creatures and the last we see of Johnny is him being overrun. Now we don’t actually see him being killed off per say, which leads me to believe that we may not have seen the last of The Human Torch. The rest of the issue is meant to tie up the other two arcs that dealt with Reed & Galactus and Sue & Namor. It will be interesting to see how the next issue will follow up with this story line. Marvel has decided to polybag this issue. The last time this was done that I can remember was by DC with The Death Of Superman arc in Superman #75…..and we all remember how that story line ended like two years later. That’s why I think The Torch will be back in the book sometime at or around Fantastic Four #600.
