This year at Toy Fair, video game maker Activision unveiled what is sure to be a breakthrough for the toy and video game industries. Entitled Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure this new game allows players to use real life action figures, or as Activision calls them inter-action figures, in conjunction with a portal of power that will plug into your console to play a revolutionary new video game.
The game allows players to place these figures on the portal and play these characters on the screen. Each of the figures remembers the player’s experiences in the game. Achievements and leveled up capabilities earned in game play are embedded inside the figure and travel with the figure. Each of these figures have their own unique powers and abilities. So say for example you are playing the game and you need to access something that only a tech powered figure can access, all you have to do is remove your current figure from the portal and place the appropriate figure there. Players can drop in and out of each level with as many different characters as they like, making play unique for everyone.
The portal of power plugs into all game platforms and serves as gateway between our world and the game world.
Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure starter pack will come with game portal and 3 figures and should retail for about $69.99. Individual figures will be priced around $10.00 each and there should be around 30 different figures. There is no rating yet and it should hit stores in the fall.
