So back in late January/early February I decided to go to Mega Con in Orlando Florida.  Well last weekend was the convention and here is my Post Convention Report.

My biggest regret was not arriving in Orlando on Thursday night.  Since my flight from LaGuardia didn’t get me to Orlando till 3:30PM on Friday afternoon (and by the time I got to the hotel it was 5PM I missed all of Friday’s programing.  I pretty much missed out on seeing what dealers and artists were there, since by the time I arrived at Mega Con on Saturday afternoon, it was almost impossible for anyone to maneuver the convention floor.  The reason why it was impossible for me to walk around…There were too many pre-teens/teenagers/young adults dresses as random Anime Characters not moving at all and thus blocking traffic.  Mind you this con was held in the same place last year’s Star Wars Celebration V was held, and that con center is pretty damn big.  Mega Con however was probably a third of the size of CV.

From what I did see of the show, it was well organized and different than most of the conventions in the New York City area.  It seemed more varied and had a better selection of artists and celebrity guests.  Granted NYCC & Dragon Con are still a great cons, but Mega Con to me was a breath of fresh air to me.

There was a wide variety of costumers present aside from the Anime fans.  Among the best that I was able to see was a Young Justice costuming group, A Black Lantern HawkGirl, A couple with their new born baby dressed as Jor-El, Lara-El & Kal-El; and of course our very own Gala debuting her female NightWing costume.

One of the few things I was able to do at Mega Con, besides hitting up the StylinOnline store, was meet Ethan Van Sciver.  However I somehow managed to miss all of the Rob Granito controversy that went down.

I was only at MegaCon for about two hours and the group I was with then decided to do Universal Studios Island of Adventures for the remainder of Saturday and then on Sunday we decided to visit Disney Downtown.

Now the question you are all asking (I hope, LOL), Will I return to Mega Con next year? The answer is possibly, and will definitely go for all three days.
